Taylor Joel Wood
with these on:
XD
Name: Taylor Wood
Nicknames: Tay by his family, Nerd by other kids his age
Gender: Male
Age: 14 years old
District: District 6
Job: He find herbs for others to make into medicine for the Capitol
Description: Taylor could be a very handsome young man, but the way he acts and dresses kind of takes away from his looks. He wears big, black glasses that seem way too old fashioned, but they were all he could find. He usually wears long socks and shorts, which isn't a very good combination, along with his signature too-big sweatshirt, with a white undershirt beneath it.
But behind all this, Taylor's features are actually fairly attractive. He has beautiful red hair paired with stunning light blue eyes with darker blue streaks. His pale complexion only makes his eyes and hair look more vividly colored. Taylor has a slender face and slightly puffy lips, which might be because he bites on them so much. He doesn't know the first thing about fighting and he doesn't do much physical labor, but he isn't scrawny like you would think. Of course, he also isn't extremely muscular, but he is at a healthy muscle mass. Taylor is medium height for his age at about 5'7," but it seems like the other guys in his grade are especially tall. But that's probably because most of them beat him up. This is why Taylor is also often seen with scrapes and bruises on his face, and many more hidden beneath that extra-large sweatshirt.~~~~~~
Personality: Despite being bullied constantly for his name, looks, intelligence, and other reasons, Taylor is still a really sweet boy. Although shy, he his really friendly and loyal when you get to know him. He hates being bullied, but he puts up with it well by not letting it get to him and being with his family, who loves him, as much as he can. However, he still has a very low self-confidence and isn't very comfortable with anyone but his family anymore.
Taylor is very smart, earning him the nickname "Nerd," but also allowing him to get a job earlier than most. He had a very strong interest in herbs, which was great considering it was District 6's specialty, and so he did something about it. He researched herbs and memorized a lot of information about them. This helped him get a job with a medicine-making-shop, and now he collects herbs for them. Later he hopes to move up from collecting herbs to mixing them into medicine, but right now he's grateful for having a job.
When he's not working, Taylor reads, researches more herbs, studies for school, and hangs out with his family. He doesn't go out in public too often outside of work and school because he doesn't like how people his age sneer and make fun of him. However, if his family needs it he would go out for them. That's how much he loves his family.
The Capitol and the Games are some of the few things he hates more than being bullied. This is partly because the kids in the Games are being bullied, but to a much more extreme level, and he finds it absolutely terrible. If he was ever picked at the Reaping, he would be heartbroken at the thought of never seeing his family again, and fearful at the thought of dying in such a terrible place under such terrible circumstances. However, he does think he might stand a small chance with his brains, though his brawn doesn't do much for him.~~~~~~
History: When Taylor was a toddler, he had a happy life. He had loving parents and a playful older sister to make his childhood fun. But he couldn't stay home forever. When the young boy started school, he wasn't bullied at first, but it didn't take long for the other kids to realize he was different. He was a lot smarter than they were, and that wasn't good. So to show that they were "better" than him, they excluded Taylor from games and conversations. He didn't mind too much though. He found entertainment in learning and excelling instead.
But then the excluding turned to insulting, and this verbal harassment turned to physical harassment. As Taylor grew, the bullying got worse. It was harder and harder to brush it off or to hide that his self-esteem was declining to practically nothing. However, his intelligence (especially in herbs) also grew and he got a job fairly young, which made him ecstatic. However, when the bullies took his job as a completely knew pile of material to insult him with, Taylor finally broke. He told his family about everything one day, and they tried to fix the problem but only managed to make the bullying worse.
So now the poor young man is stuck with the bullying until he can get away from school. However, Taylor felt much better with the support of his family, and now he can continue to brush off the insults and beatings when he just thinks about how he has parents who love him and a sister he gets along with really well and who always manages to cheer him up. So, he can ignore the bullying by being with his family and working hard at his job. As long as Taylor has something to focus on, he knows he won't ever break again.
