Description: Piper is a very tall girl with a fit body. She is unlike her fellow District she has darker tanned skin from all the time she has spent in the sun. Piper gains most of her muscle mass from her work as an engineer. It requires her to push heavy metal objects all day. She works frequently on massive, intricate structures. Piper is able to lift objects several times her weight and is rather versed in hand-to-hand combat. She learned most of these skills from the fights she would get into on the street and in the orphanage.
Piper has bright fire red hair that usually stays steel straight and falls just past her shoulders. Piper usually keeps her hair up in a pony tail to keep it from bothering her during work. Piper prides herself on her looks and is constantly checking her appearance in the mirror and making sure she always looks 'perfect'. This vain girl hates getting scratched or scuffed and will unleash hell for anyone who ruins her image. Her eyes are a dark emerald colour that usually shine lifelessly. Piper has heavily calloused and scarred hands from a few years of experience working as an engineer.
Personality: From a very young age, Piper would hate staying in one place for too long. With her job as a traveling engineer Piper has access to all of Panem during the Hunger Games season. Her naturally adventurous nature brings her to explore every district for herself. Piper knows some of the other districts as well as her own. While Piper likes to wander, she only ever does so by herself. She is a very independent person and will never ask for help. Along with this, Piper is very distant from people. She doesn't like people. She acts very cold to very one around her. The only time she doesn't act like that is around animals. Piper has a certain soft spot for any and all kinds of animals. Those rare times Piper smiles is usually around animals. She prefers the company of animals rather than people; but she never keep animals as pets.
Piper is a very quick tempered girl, very little things will set her off. Small things most people would over look can upset Piper and when she gets made she will go to any length to show her anger. She will hiss, yell, punch and generally create a ruckus. Piper can hold a grudge for a lifetime and will very rarely forgives. Piper is a very cruel girl who enjoys the pain of others and has the skill to back it up. As much as she loves causing physical pain of others, Piper enjoys causing psychological trauma and likes to keep a book of black mail on numerous people.
Piper is a very vain person and hates getting her hands dirty. She spends hours keeping herself looking pristine and perfect. nothing matters more to Piper than her own looks.
History: Little Piper River Vivian Wynter was dropped off at the District 5 orphanage at 7 months old by the peacekeepers. Her parents had been detained by the Capitol for 'not complying with protocol' in other words, rebellious activities. Piper grew up in the infants ward under the care of an elderly woman only known as Mrs. Swift. She was a hard woman who had treated the infants in her ward with the minimum requirement. She kept them mostly locked in their cribs until they were old enough to be moved to the young children's ward. Piper had to be moved to the ward earlier due to her quick mobility development. This was a bad decision on the wardens part.
Pipe was not ready to be apart of such an age group. The older kids took to teasing Piper, giving her her horrible temper at an early age. This also created Piper's outcast image among those at the orphanage. Piper learned early on how to survive in such a place. She learned how to be cold and unassuming person she grew up to be. The bullying didn't last very long, a year or two at most. Piper grew to be taller than most children her age, giving her an advantage of glaring at them from an intimidating height. Piper became a figure of power and ice in the orphanage and she was never bothered again.
Piper had gotten some enjoyment by subtly tormenting the children of the orphanage. She would 'kindly' ask the other children for their limited portion of food. Other children would outright refuse to sleep in the same room as her, afraid she would hurt them in their sleep. Any time Piper would ask for something she would get. The caretakers of the orphanage were oblivious to Piper's actions, and Piper made sure it stayed that way. Piper's love for tormenting and almost carnivorous hunger for things grew until it could no longer be stated by the other children at the orphanage.
Piper grew her rein of terror to the streets of District 5. The children were not let out of the orphanage on their own until the age of 6. It was at this age that Piper got her first few glimpses of District 5. District 5 was mostly made of ever stretch, dead grasslands. The lands were lifeless and had all the beautiful life suck from it. Piper was enthralled by the dead plains and the massive wind mills and turbines standing proud and tall all across the lands.
Piper was much less impressed by the people of District 5. They were a rather well off District compared to most, with their position of power. The people were all callused and selfish, very little matter to them other than their word. Even their family bonds were greatly ignored in favour of their work.
Piper turned her attention to the power plant and the other facilities in District 5. None of them really caught her interest for the longest time. As her fellow orphans were picking up jobs, Piper would continue her rather nomadic life wandering the district for days at a time before ending back up at the orphanage. Finally, at the age of ten a little out of the way store caught Piper's attention. A clock repair shop. Thinking very little of it, Piper went in. The older woman behind the counter was a sly, vibrant person who caught Piper's attention. The woman offered Piper and job and a home in her shop. Without thinking Piper accepted.
Piper had been avoiding adoption for years now, she had never wanted to leave her established and easy lifestyle. The older woman, Amy was her name ("And I am only 48, that is not old you insolent child!") and that was how Piper's life as an engineer began.
She began repairing clocks then moved onto bigger things such as TV monitors and toasters. Amy previously moved all around Panem, fixing all kinds of equipment every year for the Hunger Games. When Piper turned 12, she too traveled around Panem to help her mentor. She meet all kinds of people on her trip, never making friends of course but learning a lot. During these trips, Piper noticed Amy disappearing often. When Piper asked about it, Amy would just snap at her that she "was too young to understand."
It wasn't until last year that Piper found out that Amy worked for the rebellion in her District. Piper held no interest in the rebellion, preferring to enjoy her freedom around the time of the Hunger Games. Every year Piper enjoys traveling around the Districts fixing TV monitors.
