Roger Thomas West
Name: Roger
Nicknames: none
Gender: Male
Age: 30 years old
District: District 8
Job: He works in a clothing factory
Description: Roger is a handsome 30-year-old, with a lean, muscular body that stands 6 feet 2 inches in height. He works out regularly, so it keeps this fit body in shape. His facial features are also very easy on the eyes, including his beautiful dark blue eyes and his stunning smile embraced by a medium-sized set of lips. He isn't always clean shaven, but sometimes even his stubble adds to his looks. His luscious dark brown hair is always spiked and styled perfectly. It should be, considering he spends so much time on it in the mornings. Roger's face starts at this thick hairline, and comes fairly straight down before sloping inward until it came to a point at his chin. It makes his jaw look slightly square and attractive. Roger is of white ethnicity, but he is often very tan because he loves to run and work out outside. With Roger's looks paired with his wife's, they really are a beautiful couple.
Personality: Roger is a very happy, carefree man. He's always smiling and laughing, and he is rarely angry or upset. He loves his wife, Lyra, with all his heart, and he feels the need to protect her and help her any chance he gets. He loves her spontaneity and how she never seems to act her age, for he too would love to stay a kid forever. However, usually he has to be the adult and straighten out things that Lyra causes with her childish behavior. But Roger doesn't mind because he loves her, and he would do anything for her.
Roger works at a clothing factory, where he spends most of his time. He is very hardworking and loves his job, even if it is very monotonous. When Roger isn't working, he likes to work out, especially outside, to stay in shape. He also has a few hobbies of singing, cooking, and massaging, all of which includes is wife. He sings to her to comfort her or just to express his love for her in a different way. As for cooking, Lyra is his taste-tester. He'll try out a new recipe or completely make one up on the spot, and she'll try it for him. And finally, for massaging...well, there's not much to it. He massages Lyra's shoulders or back or neck whenever she needs it as if he was a professional masseur. Whenever he spends time with Lyra, he always feels especially happy, or on those rare days when he is gloomy or tired, she manages to cheer him up. It's another thing he loves about her.
Some of the few things that can get Roger down are the Hunger Games, or the Reaping, or Peacekeepers. He will always stand up to Peacekeepers, and he will always hate the Hunger Games and the Capitol. He would do anything to stop it. But he knows he can't do much about that, so he focuses his life on his wife and his work--the things he loves.
History: Roger's childhood was a good one; he had a loving family and was raised well by his mom and dad. They taught him to love life, and they're probably the reason why Roger is so happy all the time because that's how they raised him to be. They loved him so much, but even though he was the only child they didn't spoil him. They thought spoiling and pampering children made them snobby and heartless, so they made sure not to do that with Roger. The boy didn't even care that the other kids got more toys and things than him, for he found entertainment in the outdoors and didn't need toys.
When Roger was 12, he got in a little trouble with the Peacekeepers. Really he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but apparently that didn't convince the Peacekeepers. He had walked by after an elderly woman got mugged, and when the Peacekeepers came to help her she said that Roger was the one who robbed and beat her. Roger tried to convince the Peacekeepers it hadn't been him, using the excuses that the woman's eyes were bad and that he would never do that to an old woman, but they didn't believe him. Plus, he had just made his punishment ten times worse by arguing with them. While all this was happening, Roger's mom had come searching for him. She came upon the scene of her son being whipped and beaten for punishment (which is really ironic considering what he was being charged for). She frantically attacked the Peacekeeper, and apparently did enough damage that the Peacekeeper thought she needed to be taken away. Permanently. He took her from the earth with a bullet to the chest, and Roger watched his mom die. This was 100 times worse than taking the beating.
Despite how terrible the death was and how scarred Roger became, he got over it faster than most would. Part of the reason was because he could never stay in a depression too long considering his cheerful disposition, and also he was just happy she had died quickly. If she had died slowly and painfully, Roger wouldn't have been nearly so resilient. He also appreciated how her death brought him and his dad closer together. Now they're best friends.
When Roger was 22 years of age, he met his future wife, Lyra. He had just started working at a clothing factory, and since he was new he was often used as a delivery boy. He had to go pick some bolts of cloth and fabric for the clothing factory, and the shop he went to was Lyra's. He didn't realize his love for her instantly like she did for him, but after a few months of her flirting with him, giving him flowers and chocolates and other gifts, and asking him out on dates, Roger realized he really liked her outgoing and loving personality. He accepted one of her date offers, and soon they were deeply in love. A little less than a year later, Roger brought Lyra to his house to meet his father. A huge weight was lifted off his shoulders when he saw that his dad really liked Lyra. Roger's father saw how much Roger and Lyra loved each other, and he was the one who pushed his son to propose. After 2 years of this pushing, Roger finally did. He married Lyra, and he has lived happily with her for 8 years now. Roger sees many more years of happy marriage to come.
