Role Playing Experience: About three years
Reason: Having a tribute would be really interesting to play and I haven't been able to role play with Brody much so this would give me somewhere to use him more. Plus, I think it would be interesting to see Brody as a tribute since he would want to win so he could go home to help his family but he would also keep thinking how pointless it would be for him to even try since he has such a slim chance of winning. Inner turmoil <3
Character: Brody Wren Starks
Position: District 3 Male Tribute
Role Playing Example:
Brody slung a rock as he continued to trudge down the road towards home. Stupid job, I didn't want it anyways, he thought, glaring daggers into the ground in front of him. The rumble of thunder brought his head up to find dark storm clouds gathering overhead. Just as he was about to pick up his pace to avoid the storm, the clouds erupted and the patter of rain filled his ears. "Seriously? That's just great!" Brody yelled to no one in particular. He groaned before hunching his shoulders and continuing down the path to his house.
As the small house came into view, he let out a sigh, knowing exactly what was about to happen. He hated coming home and feeling useless as his mother would ask how the job interview go. He would then have to tell her that he did not get the job. Brody knew he had to get a job soon because the tesseras he had been signing up for were not enough to keep their family going with only his mother working. Although his mother hated seeing him putting his name multiple times into the bowls that held the fates of all the children in his District, Brody continued to sign up for tesseras to help his family. Brody gritted his teeth as he reached the front porch. The one thing he would never allow was for his sisters to sign up for even a single tessera.
"Oh thank goodness you're home Brody! We were beginning to worry!," his mother immediately cornered him, fussing and scolding him as she practically tore his wet jacket off. "Well, mom was worried that is," came Lorikeet's voice and Brody turned to see all three of his sisters giggling. Rolling his eyes, he gave them a funny face causing them to erupt in more fits of giggles before he pulled his mother into the other room.
"You need to take a hot bath so you don't get sick, but first, how did the interview go?" the hope in his mother's eyes brought a wave of nausea to Brody and he swallowed roughly. He ran his hands through his hair before staring out the window, "I-I didn't get the job." Brody's heart broke at the sound of his mother's disappointed "oh" and he quickly tried to reassure her. "But don't worry mom, I signed up for more tesseras and those will get us through until I do get a job," he explained when she suddenly broke down crying. Oh no, what did I do? he wailed to himself, trying to figure out how to comfort his mother.
"Please Brody, no, don't sign up for more tesseras! W-w-we need you here! If you're reaped," her voice broke and Brody watched helplessly as she scuttled out of the room. Anger at himself filled Brody and he hissed out in pain as his fist collided with the nearest wall. How could I do this to them? I can't get a job and I keep putting myself at greater risk of being reaped, Brody finally realized, falling back onto the old couch. What have I done? he wondered as the reality that his chances of being reaped had sky rocketed. Without him, how would his family survive? "This will be an interesting reaping," Brody muttered grimly.
