Description: Luke has just about cracked six foot, and despite the fact that he has a naturally slender frame, working in the fields from a young age has caused him to build up some substantial muscles.
Although not particularly poor/starving by his District's standards, he is very lean, with more muscle than he has body fat. His tan, well-toned body makes him a source of much intrigue to many girls, the attention of whom he rather enjoys.
He has thin, blonde hair which he is generally rather loathe to cut, so it floats around his face in a ruffled mess. He has grey-blue eyes and a somewhat cocky smile; his angular features are attractive enough, and doesn't he know it. He is strong and well-hardened to the work he does outside, with skin darkened by the sun and once-blistered, now calloused hands
Personality: Lucas Butler is a charismatic, carefree character who prefers to ignore his problems as opposed to facing them. He is very much a social butterfly, and enjoys spending time with various people. People like him; he is infectiously optimistic, cheerful and friendly. He is, to some extent, a womaniser; he knows that plenty of girls will bend over backwards to please him and he enjoys availing himself of this fact. However, he fears commitment, and would be likely to make any effort to try and get out if a casual romantic acquaintance were ever to turn to a full-blown relationship.
His biggest fault is probably his ego; he is immensely over-confident and thinks rather highly of himself. Despite this, he is amicable, well-liked and fun-loving, tending to get on well with everybody he encounters.
History: Luke's father died before he was old enough to know him, but despite the fact that he was often curious and would pester his mother with questions, he never felt any particular sorrow in regards to the fact that he had no father. He took the task of being 'the man of the house' in his stride, enjoying the fact that his mother gave him a great deal of freedom and relishing the concept that she needed him. The two of them relied on one another a great deal, and as a result grew extremely close. She re-married when he was seven, but unfortunately her new partner died of a combination of disease and exposure. Although Luke had never been particularly attached to his stepfather, he mourned for his mothers' sake.
When he was eleven, his mother suffered from a back injury which meant that she had difficulty working, and was often bed-ridden. To compensate for this, and given the fact that he had a couple of younger siblings, all of whom he was determined to protect, Luke put his name down for tesserae several times and as a result, Reapings became something to be dreaded every time they came around.
Miraculously, Luke was never picked. He moved into his own little house when he turned eighteen, but still endeavoured to try and provide for his family.
