Train Ride Gone Wrong//Night&Lansing

Lansing's blood boiled as she listened to Xavier's words, but she only blankly stared at the beautifully ornate carpet on the floor. As Xavier continued, Lansing thought immediately, of Lily Craft. Her old friend, murdered in the Games. The Games. Lansing thought, slowly raising her eyes to meet Xavier's. He seemed, suddenly, very small. Not in a bad way. In an honest way. She tilted her head to one side, one corner of her mouth pulling upwards, almost laughing at her next thought. She wanted to ask him to please, please, get rid of the Games. Do something. Save the children of my district, my home. They are so small.

"I couldn't ask you," Lansing said through her amused smile, "You'd never really help me." She shook her head as she spoke. It was true. The people of the Capitol, it seemed, were so far gone, so far past the reality of what atrocities they forced mere children to commit against each other, that they had no idea that people of the districts were just that -- people. Seeing on how Xavier had just kidnapped Lansing, taken her from her life, she couldn't quite see him as different at the moment.

What Lansing didn't know was that Xavier used to be on the same side as her. Before his wife died, he had actually been planning ways to spy and sabotage the Capitol. After her death, however, he became dark and cold. The perfect person to become a Gamemaker. But now...Lansing was changing him. And if she continued to influence him, being a Gamemaker would give him a perfect way to continue his former plans. He was in the perfect position; all that was left was for his mind to get on the right track. And Lansing was starting to push him that way.

"I couldn't ask you. You'd never really help me."

Xavier's brow furrowed. This was not the attitude he wanted from her. She was being difficult, and Xavier (being a spoiled rich man) was a little put-out by things not going how he wanted them to. Still, he tried to strive for patience. "I promise you, I would do whatever you want," he insisted. "Please, just tell me--make a suggestion--anything. Otherwise you'll be stuck with something I think up myself..." At this, his lips turned up a little bit in a smug smile. He would shower her with gifts, all of which he knew she wouldn't want, but hoping something would make her happy; the thought of this...game made him laugh a little inside. It reminded him of old fashioned courting, trying to woo a young maiden with gentlemanly gifts and acts. Nevermind the fact that kidnapping a woman was not a gentlemanly act whatsoever.
