Luke's dirty-blonde hair framed his face in an unruly mess as he wandered groggily out of his house, only just remembering to close and lock the door behind him.

Wind fluttered a little through it. Today felt ever so slightly warmer, but regardless, a day out in the fields was not a welcoming prospect, especially this early in the morning.

However, Lucas shook the thought of that away. He would wander into the Town Square, first, and see if there were any people about to converse with. It had been a while since he'd had himself a nice little conversation with a girl, he thought with a little smirk. That wouldn't do; he'd have to go out and bag himself a pretty little creature right now this instant.

As I walk through town square I see stuff that I need. I remember telling myself I would not steal more than one thing a day. I don't like stealing almost as much as I don't like the games. I look around and sit by a tree.

What am I waiting for? I don't know to tell you. I look around and put my hood up over my head. I see all of the people walk past me like I am invisible. Well I almost always am. I keep looking around and see nobody so I sit my happy butt near a tree.

Luke glanced around, and zoned in on his prey almost immediately. Having done so, he then amended his brain's choice of words; 'prey' sounded far too brutal. He was not an animal, and he certainly wasn't cruel to girls. He just liked to have a bit of fun. If they were expecting anything more than that from him, then that was their loss. It wasn't up to him to regulate their assumptions.

He continued to survey her, watching very closely as she seated herself at the base of a tree, and then enclosed herself within her hood. She seemed to be looking surreptitiously around, but it appeared that Luke was not included in her swift glances.

She was, in all fairness, pretty gorgeous. With this thought firmly laid into his mind, he crossed the square with purposeful strides and seated himself beside her. "Hi, I'm Luke. Do you mind if I sit with you?" He flashed a charming, bright smile. "Sorry, I'm being imposing. But you looked lonely."

I looked and saw somebody sit next to me. Did I look lonely or is it just he likes me. No nobody likes me I am a loner. I look at him, "No I don't mind. Just not used to people is all." I sounded like somebody who is retarded. I was not that.

Luke frowned. How could she live like that, he wondered? There was nothing better than friendship, he thought. Spending time with people and forming relationships was more satisfying than anything in the world.

He flashed a smile at her. "Really? And why might that be?" Yes, it was a good pointer for conversation, but it was a worthwhile question to ask; he was genuinely interested in her answer. He smirked to himself; not only was she pretty, but a mystery as well. How exciting.

He should know. Most people ignore me or I ignore them. It is easy as pie. Only I guess he does not realize this. I kept looking at him, "Well people just don't like me. That's all." I sighed and looked back down at the grass.

Why did people hate me? That was going to be the next question he asked me.I bet. I know it.

Luke frowned. That didn't seem right at all. "Why do you think that? Are you sure you're not just being paranoid?" He paused. "I don't hate you." In all fairness, he didn't actually know the girl at all, but it was no lie; he did not hate her. He was more inclined to like her than not to; she seemed something of a mystery, waiting to be unraveled. Besides, the girls who were the hardest to get through to were always the most fun.

"You seem nice enough to me. Is there a reason you think they don't like you?"

Like I said his next question would be why do people hate me. I turn to look him in the eye before I say this, "Would you be friends with a person who had a family of theifs' and the person was one too." The only thing is I am the nicest one out of my whole family.

I give the people I steal from something in return. My brother didn't. Maybe that's why he got turned into an..... I can't even say the word.

The intensity with which she looked at him stunned Luke a little. he was ever so slightly thrown off guard as he looked back at her.

"Would you be friends with a person who had a family of theifs' and the person was one too?"

Luke frowned, and paused. Well, whatever he had been expecting, this was not it. He looked at her for a few moments, trying to imagine her stealing something, then shrugged and smiled. "Doesn't really bother me. You seem too nice to be a thief." He winked, trying to lighten the atmosphere a little. "Sure you aren't just trying to impress me?"

Impress him impress him ha. I don't try to impress anybody. Much less a boy. I do steal I am a thief but I am the nicest one of any thief. I look at him. He is cute but I don't really like him much. I don't like anybody nowadays. I keep looking at him until I say something "Why would I impress you I don't usually impress anybody. Much less a guy. Sorry." I looked back on the ground and pretended to look like I am okay.

Luke laughed lightly. "I'm a very handsome guy, you know." He smirked. "I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to impress'" He shot her a teasing look, before realising that she was not partaking in his joke. In fact, she looked relatively unhappy. He paused, before scooting a little closer. He felt that it would be a move too far to but an arm around her, so he simply looked at her for a few moments, before speaking tentatively.[

"Are you alright?"

I don't like this guy. He is creeping me out but than again he is cute. I look him in the eyes and smile. "Of course I am alright. I always am." I smile in between words. I look at him and than back to the ground. Why can't I just not be alive. Why can't I be hiding in the woods right now. Away from all of this, but if I was in the woods my family would not have me.

Now Luke saw her smile for the first time, and found himself pleased by what he saw. He smiled back very warmly, as if to encourage her.

"That's a good attitude. I hate people who wallow in their own misery, don't you? It's a bit pathetic." He glanced down for a moment, then met her eyes again. "There's too much misery in the world already to encourage it like that. And..." He smiled again, feeling a little more than usually lighthearted. "And there's plenty to enjoy as well. No need to be miserable."

I look at him and laugh to myself. Is he really there or is it just my imagination. I keep looking at him. He must be real I mean he has his arm around me. I sigh at myself and look around. There is one cart that nobody is near or even looking at. On the cart are apples. Oh my gosh apples. I want to get them steal them and run away. Only the boy next to me still has his arm around me.

"Look.... Luke why are you even here?"

Her gaze unnerved him, and it stayed on him for far too long. He dropped his own eyes, feeling a strange mixture of both bemusement and awkwardness. But he would not give up in his goal; she was like a particularly difficult project. That was all.

She gave a sudden little sigh before looking away. Luke frowned., but kept his arm around her. It was frustrating that she showed little response to his affection; most girls were falling over to get to him, to please him.

"Look.... Luke why are you even here?"

Luke gave a little frown. "I saw you sitting alone. I like to familiarise myself with everyone. I thought maybe I could get to know you?"
